the quiet ramblings of a construction worker: Ask Mom

Ask Mom

I've been inspired for years to sit down with my mother-in-law and conduct a serious interview.  I would ask her several, mostly trivial, questions about life.  I would then put them in a data bank and have them  ready for any given moment.  Why would anybody want to sit and talk with their mother-in-law for such an extended period of time, you ask?  Because it would save me thousands in mediation fees (the unit of currency here is time of course) when debating, with my wife, the correct answer to the questions of life.

Why does this sound crazy?  Here's a little background.  Everyday people like you and me evolve.  As toddlers we ask our moms, and when we get a little older we ask our dads (here comes the crucial evolutionary turning point).  When we start to attend public schools we realize both of our parents are crazy, we then learn everything from TV, internet, and books if you were able to sit and stare at an arrangement of letters to produce words to produce sentences to produce dialogue to... yeah I trailed of to at that age.  That's why TV was invented, for kids like me with ADD.

What my mother-in-law has done is develop a giant mental evolutionary block.  That's right a block, all in 2 steps (take notes):

step 1 - I am always right (all moms say this, but most kids learn the truth)  There's also a lot of other manipulation going on during this phase, but I didn't catch it (I wasn't there, but I'm sure I read about it in a book called 1984)

step 2 - Seal the deal by teaching them at a young age, that Daddy is crazy, because Mommy's always right and Daddy is definitely crazy (just look at him).

So now when people talk about Googling or going to Wikipedia, my wife and her sisters find their answers by hitting the speed dial letter "M".  And you bet your cookies it's a reliable source.

One day I will have that interview and you will come to this page and there will be a link for AskMom.com (if available).  Til then you can comment on this page and I will see to it that Mom answers all your questions.
